Kiln dried ash firewood is considered to be one of the best types of hardwoods you can burn on your appliance. Hardwoods such as ash and oak logs are very dense, this is the main reason why they have a longer burn duration than softer species such as birch. Along with a good burn duration, ash has a good energy density, providing 2926KWh per cubic meter.

All of our firewood goes through a drying process where it is put in a kiln for 7 days. This process dries the logs to leave them with a moisture content of less than 20%. Firewood with a lower moisture content lights much easier, produces less smoke, and burns hotter.

Along with being kiln dried, making it a better fuel for the environment, all our logs are responsibly sourced. Our log producers are approved by the FSC (The Forest Stewardship Council), which is an organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of forests.

Ash firewood gives out a nice steady heat, a good flame and little smoke. It is an easy firewood to work with, and generally seen to be the most cost effective due to its longer burn time.

Be sure to store your logs in a dry place to ensure that you feel the benefit of burning dry logs.

How to use:

As always, before lighting a new fire, be sure that your stove has been cleaned from last use. Having too must ash residue in the stove restricts airflow, and makes it harder for you to light the fire.

To start, place a handful of kindling in the stove and add a couple of firelighters. Light the firelighters with a long match or lighter. From here, add another handful of kindling on top of the firelighters.

Once your kindling is burning with a flame, add 2 – 3 logs to the fire. Once the logs have caught fire, reduce the amount of airflow directed into the fire, this will make the logs burn for longer.

Add more logs as necessary.
