Kiln dried Birch is one of the most attractive and user-friendly firewood's available. Its pale, silver bark and natural oils help it ignite quickly, producing a bright, lively flame and cosy heat within minutes. Birch gives off a pleasant fragrance on open fires and works brilliantly in log burners, multifuel stoves, chimeneas and even pizza ovens.

Although Birch is a hardwood, it isn’t as dense as Oak or Hornbeam, which is why it lights faster and reaches temperature quickly. It’s ideal for customers who burn for shorter periods in the evenings or at weekends and want instant heat without the wait. If you need longer-lasting heat through the night, Birch also pairs perfectly with smokeless fuel — start your fire with Birch, then add fuel to extend the burn time.

All of our Birch is kiln dried for around seven days, then cut to a consistent 25cm log length. The kiln drying process ensures a moisture content below 20%, resulting in a cleaner, hotter and more efficient burn with minimal smoke or soot. Birch is also one of the fastest growing hardwoods, and all logs are FSC certified, meaning the wood comes from responsibly managed forests.

How to use:

Start your fire with kindling and firelighters, ensuring the stove has good airflow. Once the kindling is burning well, add 2–3 logs and reduce the airflow slightly once they catch. Add more logs as needed. Birch will light quickly and bring your room up to temperature without fuss.

Will this definitely be kiln dried?

Yes — every load of firewood we sell is genuinely kiln dried.

We are Woodsure Approved and all of our wood is Ready to Burn certified. This certification means that moisture content, wood species, and quality are independently checked and approved.

You are receiving premium, fully compliant firewood — not seasoned logs labelled as kiln dried.

Is the crate stacked, or is it loosely filled?

The crate is fully stacked, which means the logs are neatly packed in rows from top to bottom. This gives you the maximum amount of usable firewood per cubic metre, with very little wasted space. A stacked crate contains significantly more wood than a loose-filled builders bag.

Will this work in my specific log burner?

Yes — Birch works brilliantly in most log burners, multifuel stoves and open fires. Logs are cut to approximately 25cm, which fits 99% of modern stoves. Because Birch lights quickly and reaches temperature fast, it’s ideal for smaller appliances or situations where you want heat without waiting around.

Do I have to be in to sign for it?

No — you don’t need to be home. Just let us know before delivery where you’d like the crate placing (for example: on the drive, next to the garage, or by your log store), and our driver will position it there for you. Many customers are at work when we deliver.

What kind of delivery vehicle is used?

We use our own 3.5-tonne delivery vehicles, fitted with a crane-off system. This allows us to lift the crate off the vehicle and place it exactly where you want it — no kerbside drop-offs and no struggling to move a heavy pallet yourself.
