Description

Looking for smokeless fuel near Holmfirth, Huddersfield or the surrounding area?

Try Newheat – Our Best-Selling Briquette

Newheat has become one of our most popular smokeless fuels because it performs exceptionally well while remaining reasonably priced.

It's made by Oxbow Coal, a reputable UK producer. Each briquette is pressed into a dense, uniform shape — providing a clean, even burn that lasts for hours. Because it’s low in moisture and ash, you’ll spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying the warmth. The steady heat output means you can keep your fire going overnight with minimal refuelling.

Newheat can be used on open fires, or closed stoves and appliances. It is not suitable for wood only stoves.

In short: Newheat gives you a consistent, long-lasting heat, with minimal clean up.

Common Questions

Can I use Newheat in a smoke-control area?
Yes – Newheat is fully DEFRA-approved and suitable for all appliances that are authorised for smokeless fuels.

How long does a 25kg bag of smokeless fuel last?
Newheat is a slow-burning, high-efficiency fuel — on most stoves, it will burn steadily for around 8–10 hours per use. You’ll typically use 1–2kg of briquettes each time you light your fire, depending on your stove size.

That means a 25kg bag will usually give you between 12 and 25 fires. The exact burn time and how long a bag lasts depend on a few factors — the size and efficiency of your stove, how much air you allow through the vents, and whether you’re using an open fire (which burns faster) or a closed stove (which can be adjusted to burn slower).

How does it compare to Supertherm?
Both are high-quality briquettes. Newheat produces less ash and burns a touch hotter; Supertherm offers a longer burn duration, but does require more stove maintenance due to the ash levels produced.

Can I mix Newheat with logs?
Absolutely. Mixing with kiln-dried logs can give you a beautiful flame while maintaining long burn times and efficiency.
