Our bulk bags of machine-filled ash & beech logs have a variety of different-sized logs. Each log length is cut to 8 inches, however, the width does vary! This bag will mainly contain standard larger logs, however, there will be some smaller pieces that the machine doesn't filter out.

The log diameter ranges from 50mm - 200mm, and the length varies from 125mm - 228mm. These bags are suitable for small-medium-sized stoves.

Kiln Dried Ash logs are one of the most popular types of hardwood for burning in the UK. While Beech is even denser and burns for longer than ash.

Our logs are FSC Certified, and sourced responsibly from a reputable producer, offering consistently good quality, along with the peace of mind that your fuel is being sourced in the right way.

All of our firewood is certified with the Ready to Burn scheme, our certificate number is WS480/00001. This gives you peace of mind that all of our firewood is properly kiln-dried, and has a moisture content of 20% or less.

Ash firewood gives off excellent hot heat, burns for a good duration, and gives an authentic feel to a cosy fire on a winter's evening.

Description

Kiln dried ash logs are one of the most popular choices among customers wanting to buy a premium fuel for their wood burner or chiminea.

Why are ash logs good for burning?

Hardwoods like ash are dense, so burn brighter – and for longer – than softer alternatives such as birch.

All firewood sold by Fitzpatrick Fuels is air dried before being split and put into a kiln.

It is kiln-dried for an average of seven days, with excess water drawn out to leave a moisture content rating of less than 20 per cent.

Ash is ideal; it lights easily, burns cleanly with a good flame, gives off little smoke and is energy-efficient, providing 2926 kWh per cubic metre.

Are kiln dried logs environmentally-friendly?

Sourced responsibly, Fitzpatrick Fuels’ range of kiln dried firewood is approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) – an international, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the sustainable management of forests.

How to use:

As always, before lighting a new fire, be sure that your stove has been cleaned from last use. Having too must ash residue in the stove restricts airflow, and makes it harder for you to light the fire.

To start, place a handful of kindling in the stove and add a couple of firelighters. Light the firelighters with a long match or lighter. From here, add another handful of kindling on top of the firelighters.

Once your kindling is burning with a flame, add 2 – 3 logs to the fire. Once the logs have caught fire, reduce the amount of airflow directed into the fire, this will make the logs burn for longer.

Add more logs as necessary.
